What Are Pores and Their Function?

  • Skin pores are small openings in the skin's surface that house hair follicles and sebaceous glands.

  • Sebum, an oily substance produced by these glands, helps moisturise and protect the skin.

  • Pores also serve as channels for sweat and other substances to be released onto the skin's surface, regulating body temperature.


Common Pore Concerns:

  • Clogged Pores: When excess oil, dead skin cells, and impurities accumulate, pores can become clogged, leading to acne breakouts and dull skin.

  • Enlarged Pores: Factors like genetics, ageing, sun damage, and excess oil production can contribute to enlarged pores, giving the skin a rough or uneven texture.

  • Blackheads: Open comedones (small flesh or white lumps on the skin surface), or blackheads can occur when our pores become clogged with oil and dead skin cells, oxidising and turning black upon exposure to air.

We've listed below 6 steps that will help you to clear and improve your pores:


Consistent Cleansing Routine:

  • It goes without saying, double-cleansing your face twice daily with a gentle, non-comedogenic cleanser to remove dirt, oil, and makeup is one of the best solutions to clear skin.

  • Consider using a gentle exfoliating cleanser to unclog pores and remove dead skin cells.


Regular Exfoliation:
